Despite the challenges of the COVID pandemic, Memoriam, the outdoor walking museum of memory project in Lefkada, is well underway! SNFPHI project awardee organization AMAKA is collaborating with the 1st High School of Lefkada to organize weekly oral history and documentary filmmaking workshops to help students from around the island engage the history of their community and bring the outdoor museum to life. In November 2020 Memoriam will be presented in the local town festival with photos, texts, and videos produced by participating students and information on the first walking tours that they have designed. AMAKA is now working with SNFPHI’s team to prepare an interactive map for the museum’s website, present the project’s educational material in a publication, and design plaques to be installed on local buildings with information on their history.
