University Seminar in Modern Greek

Entering Avato

25 █ October █ 2022
11 █ 00 - 12 █ 30

SNFPHI awardees Sotiris Tsinganos and Ionian Bisai (Latent Community) present an idiosyncratic diary combining texts, images, and sounds from their visits to Avato (literally, “a site that should not be accessed”), a village in northern Greece that is home to a long-established Turkish-speaking Black community. The diary examines how we might draw on public humanities methods to create an archive for a community in a highly politicized borderland.

*This is a hybrid event organized in collaboration with the Sakıp Sabancı Center for Turkish Studies. Click here to access the seminar link.

18:00-19:30 Greek time
