Ottomanists Bleona Hoxha and George Nathanail worked with SNFPHI Associate Director Dimitris Antoniou to transcribe and translate into Greek and English a slave manumission certificate that our awardees Sotiris Tsiganos and Ionian Bisai (Latent Community) discovered during their research in Avato, a village in northern Greece that is home to a long-standing Black community.
