The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Public Humanities Initiative at Columbia University (SNFPHI) recently launched a new scheme of summer grants to facilitate the engagement of Columbia University students with public humanities and Hellenic Studies through the pursuit of independent projects and remote collaboration with current public humanities projects underway in Greece. In May 2020, six grants were awarded to undergraduate and graduate students and recent PhD recipients. These grants will support an online oral history exhibition for high school students in collaboration with the Fleeing Objects project in Keratsini-Drapetsona, a board game in collaboration with the Faltaits Museum in Skyros, zine workshops utilizing the archives of local Greek-American organizations, a digital publication presenting the work of Classics students for a production of Euripides’ tragedy Andromache, an audio-visual installation in collaboration with Hypercomf’s Resonate project in Tinos, and a digital resource drawing on ancient drama to explore new forms of story-telling at a time of a global pandemic.
