Finding Space for Flying Rams: Imagining the Museum of Takis Giannousas

Finding Space for Flying Rams: Imagining the Museum of Takis Giannousas

24 █ February █ 2022
12 █ 00 - 13 █ 30

Takis Giannousas (Dimitris Karamatsoukas) left only 25 drawings depicting a colorful, strikingly distinct world that combines the supernatural with village life, the German occupation, and his own unique alphabet. If not for the efforts of a few, his work would have been lost forever and the artist himself would have remained unknown. In this event members of the Cultural Association of Velventos, journalist Argyro Bozoni, novelist Giannis Palavos, curator Nadja Argyropoulou, and historian Mark Mazower discuss Giannousas, examine how artistic work gets recognized or overlooked, and imagine a museum dedicated to his work.

Co-organized with Morfotikos Silloghos Velvendu

*The seminar will be conducted in Greek and livestream on Facebook.
